KAI Robot Control Module info .... page 2 of 3

The KAI Robot Control (KRC) module is shown on the right. It has an ON/OFF button, a RUN/STOP button and a SELECT button. The SELECT button allows the user to monitor the status of all analog inputs on the built-in LCD module.

The Control Module has been designed to allow easy connection of a variety of sensors and actuators. The Control Module has:

  • 2 Digital inputs (touch sensors),
  • 4 Analog inputs (non-contact sensors),
  • 4 Digital outputs (LED's),
  • 2 High Current DC Motor outputs (cw & ccw rotation),
  • 4 Servo Motor outputs, and
  • 1 audible output (Buzzer).

KRC Sensor modules

There are a number or pre-made sensors and output modules available from Kaimax, a selection of these are shown to the left but more detailed info on these can be found on the next page.

But, as the inputs and outputs are just standard TTL or Analog there is nothing to stop you (or your students) designing their own. Some suggested I/O projects could include developing an Ultrasonic module, a Digital Compass, adding accelerometers, etc., etc.
